Open page

An open page is a one-page metrics site for your company at growpanel.io/open/your-name. Founders who build in public use it to share their MRR and growth with everyone. Founders talking to investors, advisors or a board use the same page behind a password, so everyone looks at the same live numbers instead of a spreadsheet someone updated last quarter.

You choose how much it shows and how exact the numbers are. The numbers always come straight from GrowPanel: nobody types them in, they're the same numbers as your reports, and they update every day.

Setting it up

Go to Settings › Open page. Admins and owners can see this tab; read-only users can't.

You can publish once your account is on a paid plan or the free plan (not during the trial) and has a connected billing system: Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly or Alunta. That way every open page shows real numbers from billing. During the trial you can set the page up and preview it.

The settings are on the left and a live preview of your page is on the right. Every change is saved as a draft and shows up in the preview straight away, but nothing reaches visitors until you click Publish.

Settings › Open page with the settings on the left and the page preview on the right

  1. Choose who can see it: Public or Password.
  2. Check the address. GrowPanel suggests one from your account name, and you can change it.
  3. Choose how much history to show and how exact the amounts are.
  4. Pick the cards and charts.
  5. Click Publish.

The preview has four tabs: Desktop and Mobile show the page itself, Social card shows the image people see when the link is shared, and Badge shows the badges for your website. Hover the charts in the preview to check what visitors will see.

The first settings: who can see it, search engines, address, history and amounts

What each card and chart shows, and how history and amounts change the page, is in What's on your open page.

Who can see it

Public: anyone with the link can see the page. Leave Show in search engines on to let Google and other search engines list it, or turn it off to keep the page out of search results while still sharing the link yourself.

Password: visitors see a lock screen until they enter the password. Type a password of at least 8 characters and click Set. Use the Locked and Unlocked switch above the preview to see both sides.

Visitors who tick Keep me unlocked on this device stay unlocked on that device for 30 days; otherwise for 12 hours. Setting a new password and publishing locks everyone out again, so it's also how you take access back from someone.

Password pages are never listed by search engines, and their social card shows your name and "Private metrics", never a number.

Publishing

Click Publish to put the page online. For a public page, GrowPanel first lists exactly what becomes visible and asks you to confirm.

The Publish for everyone confirmation listing what visitors will see

Once it's live, GrowPanel shows you the link. The label at the top of the settings says Live (or Live, password), with a View page link next to it, and the address under the address field becomes a link with Copy link next to it.

Visitors see a newly published page, and any change you publish later, within a minute or two. When you change a setting on a live page, the settings say you have unpublished changes until you click Publish again.

Keeping it up to date

You don't need to do anything. GrowPanel rebuilds the page with your latest numbers every day, so the MRR, the cards, the charts, the social card and the badges match your reports and are never more than a day behind. The footer of the page says when it was last updated.

The numbers are your account's totals in your base currency, calculated the same way as your reports. Other currencies are converted at the daily exchange rates, as everywhere else in GrowPanel.

Changing the address

You can change the address any time. When you publish the new address, the old one keeps working for 90 days and sends visitors on to the new one, so links you've already shared don't break. During those 90 days, no other account can take the old address.

Unpublishing

Click Unpublish to take the page offline. Within a minute or two the address stops working, the social card disappears and badges turn grey. Your settings stay in Settings › Open page, so you can publish again any time.

Search engines and social networks may keep copies for a while after you unpublish, the same as for any page on the web.

Privacy

The page only ever shows totals for your whole account. It never shows anything about a single customer, and it never says which billing system or data source the numbers come from.

Whatever you leave out isn't just hidden: it's never sent to the visitor's browser at all, so it can't be found in the page source either. A growth-only page doesn't contain your amounts anywhere, and a page without history doesn't contain last year's numbers.
