Multiple and shared dashboards
One dashboard rarely suits every job. The view you check each morning isn't the one you'd put on screen in a board meeting, and the numbers your support lead cares about aren't the ones your CFO does. You can keep as many dashboards as you need, and share one with the whole team.
If you only ever want a single dashboard, nothing changes — this feature stays out of the way until you create a second one.
Switching between dashboards
The dashboard's title is also the switcher. Click it to open the list:
- My dashboards — the ones you created
- Team dashboards — dashboards colleagues have shared with the account
The second heading only appears once someone has actually shared something, so on a single-user account the list is just your own.
Two dashboards can happily share a name. If you and a colleague both have one called "Dashboard", the two sections keep them apart.
Creating a dashboard
From the same menu:
- New dashboard — starts empty. You'll be asked for a name, then dropped straight into edit mode so you can add widgets.
- Duplicate this one — copies the dashboard you're looking at, including every widget and its settings. Useful for taking a shared team dashboard and making a version of your own.
A duplicate is always private and always belongs to you, even if you copied someone else's shared dashboard.
Renaming, sharing and deleting
Open the switcher and choose Dashboard settings. From there you can:
- Rename it
- Share with the team — make it visible to everyone on the account
- Make this my default — the dashboard you land on
- Delete it
Deleting is permanent, and GrowPanel won't let you delete your only dashboard — create another one first.
Sharing with your team
Turn on Share with the team and the dashboard appears under Team dashboards for everyone on the account. It stays your dashboard: it's still listed under My dashboards for you, with a Shared label.
Sharing adds a dashboard to your colleagues' list — it never replaces what they already have. Their own dashboards stay exactly where they were, and they keep landing on their own unless they choose otherwise.
Everyone sees the same widgets, and edits show up for the whole team the next time they load the page.
Who can do what
| Your own dashboards | Team dashboards | Someone's private dashboard | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner / Admin | Full control | View and edit | Not visible |
| Read-only | Full control | View and duplicate | Not visible |
Read-only members still get their own dashboards. The role limits what they can change about your data, not whether they can arrange their own view. They can create, customise, rename and delete their own freely — they just can't share one with the team.
A shared dashboard belongs to the team, not to whoever made it. Any admin or owner can edit, rename or unshare it, not only its creator. That's deliberate: if it were locked to one person, a dashboard the team relies on would be frozen the moment that person left the company, and nobody — not even the account owner — could fix or remove it.
Private dashboards work the other way round: nobody else can see them, whatever their role.
Choosing your default
Make this my default in Dashboard settings decides which dashboard opens when you go to GrowPanel. It's a personal setting — everyone on the account chooses their own, including for a shared dashboard.
Your selection is also remembered while you're moving around the app: switch to a different dashboard, click into a report, and clicking Dashboard in the menu brings you back to the one you were on. Reload the page or come back tomorrow and you'll get your default again.
When a shared dashboard disappears
If someone unshares or deletes a team dashboard you'd set as your default, nothing breaks — you'll simply land on one of your own next time. If it's only unshared, your preference is remembered, so re-sharing it puts you back where you were.
Frequently asked questions
Does sharing a dashboard change my colleagues' dashboards? No. It adds one to their list. Their own dashboards, layouts and defaults are untouched.
Can I share a dashboard with only some of the team? Not currently — sharing makes a dashboard visible to everyone on the account.
Can two people edit the same shared dashboard? Yes, if they're admins or owners. There's no locking, so the last save wins — worth agreeing who looks after a shared board if several people maintain it.
What happens to someone's dashboards when they leave? Shared ones stay available and any admin can maintain them. Private ones are only ever visible to their owner.
Is there a limit? Up to 50 dashboards per person.
