Something quietly shifted in subscription analytics this month. ChartMogul — for a decade the tool you could just sign up for — no longer works that way.

Here's what their pricing and signup pages show as of September 2026:

  • The Starter plan is gone. It launched earlier in 2026 at around $69/month, and it's no longer listed. The cheapest paid plan is now Pro, from $1,188/year.
  • Annual billing only. Every paid plan is billed annually. There is no monthly option on the pricing page.
  • The free plan is gone from the plan lineup. Only Pro and Enterprise are listed now — no free tier. And the "Is there a free trial?" FAQ begins: "After a quick conversation about your business and goals…"
  • Self-serve signup is gone. The signup page returns a 404, and the homepage no longer has a signup button. New customers start with a sales conversation.

To be fair: this is probably rational

Before anything else — this is likely a sensible move for them. ChartMogul is investing heavily in a built-in CRM, AI analysis, and enterprise features. Larger customers pay more, negotiate annually, and expect a sales process. If your strategy is moving upmarket, removing the low-touch bottom of the funnel is coherent.

I say this without snark. I used ChartMogul myself for about ten years across my companies, and I genuinely loved what it stood for: connect Stripe, see your MRR five minutes later, decide afterwards whether it was worth paying for. That idea — analytics you could try before you talk to anyone — is a big part of why subscription analytics became a category at all.

That's exactly why the change matters.

Who this leaves behind

If you're a bootstrapped or early-stage SaaS, the new ChartMogul math is tough:

  • Under $120k ARR? The free plan that used to cover you is no longer listed. What's on the page starts at $1,188/year.
  • Between $120k and ~$1M ARR? Your entry point is $1,188/year, paid up front, on an annual contract, after a sales call.
  • Watching your cash flow monthly? There's no monthly billing option anymore.
  • Just want to evaluate it on your own data this afternoon? You can't. Demos and sales conversations first.

Founders at this stage don't buy software this way. You sign up, you connect your billing, you look at your own numbers, and then you decide. A sales call before you've seen your own MRR is backwards.

Where GrowPanel stands

GrowPanel exists for exactly the segment this change leaves behind, so let me put our position in writing:

  1. Self-serve signup, always. Sign up, connect Stripe, Chargebee or Recurly, and see your metrics in minutes. No call required — though I'm always happy to talk.
  2. Free until $200k ARR. A real, listed plan you can activate yourself — not a footnote.
  3. Monthly billing, from $59/month. Annual is cheaper if you want it, but it's your choice, not a requirement.
  4. Published, flat pricing. Every plan and limit is on the pricing page. No quote process.
  5. AI analysis on every plan — including Free. Ask "why did churn spike in March?" and get an answer grounded in your actual movements.

And it's not a stripped-down substitute: you get the full reporting suite — MRR movements and subtypes, cohorts, NRR/GRR retention, churn reasons and cancellation timing, cashflow (including failed payments and refunds), CAC pulled from your actual ad spend, forecasting, segments, and dashboards you can share.

Switching is an afternoon, not a project

Your subscription history lives in Stripe, Chargebee or Recurly — not in your analytics tool. Connect your billing source to GrowPanel and your full MRR history imports automatically, movements and all. Most teams are comparing their numbers the same afternoon. See how GrowPanel compares to ChartMogul feature by feature.

And if you're switching this fall: use the code SWITCH26 for 50% off your first 3 months (monthly plans, first-time customers).
